Formula Villeneuve - A tribute to Gilles Villeneuve
Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3:
Part 4:
Part 5:
Part 6:
"Gilles Villeneuve was the last great racing driver. The rest of us are just good professionals. " -Alain Prost
Tribute to Gilles Villeneuve:
When reminiscing on the most memorable names from Formula One Grand Prix racing in the '70's one name that rarely fails to attract some degree of respect and admiration is that of Gilles Villeneuve. To many the wiry French-Canadian was all that epitomises the Great Grand Prix driver -- immensely skilful, determined, aggressive when necessary, and, most importantly to the observer, spectacular on any circuit that challenged him, especially behind the wheel of his beloved blood-red Ferraris.
During his short lifetime Gilles exuded a particular type of magic that quickly transformed him into a motor-racing legend and this film, produced by his compatriots, pays tribute to a drive who many believed would have been one of the all-time-greats. Here you can hear from leading personalities such as Enzo Ferrari himself in a very rare personal interview, Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Jody Scheckter, Mario Andretti, Patrick Tambay, Jacques Lafitte and even Canadian ex-Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Their admiration for the talented young Villeneuve is interspersed with some classic action sequences spanning the '70's to the fateful day in May 1982.

Johnny Cash - Redemption Day"
Comments on youtube:
..."20 years ago we had Steve Jobs, Bob Hope and Johnny Cash.Today we have no jobs, no hope and no cash.Lets hope Kevin Bacon doesn't die!"
..."and carrots"
..."everytime i come to the end of this song i scroll down, and what i hear is "freedom" and what i read is "and carrots", i've done this so many times now that everytime i come to the end of this song and he sings "freedom" i think "freedom and carrots"
Lyrics of "Redmeption day":
I've wept for those who suffer long
But how I weep for those who've gone
In rooms of grief and questioned wrong
But keep on killing
But how I weep for those who've gone
In rooms of grief and questioned wrong
But keep on killing
It's in the soul to feel such things
But weak to watch without speaking
Oh, what mercy sadness brings
If God be willing
But weak to watch without speaking
Oh, what mercy sadness brings
If God be willing
There is a train that's heading straight
To heaven's gate, to heaven's gate
And on the way child and man and woman wait
Watch and wait for redemption day
To heaven's gate, to heaven's gate
And on the way child and man and woman wait
Watch and wait for redemption day
Fire rages in the streets
And swallows everything it meets
It's just an image often seen on television
And swallows everything it meets
It's just an image often seen on television
Come leaders, come you men of great
Let us hear you pontificate
Your many virtues laid to waste
And we aren't listening
Let us hear you pontificate
Your many virtues laid to waste
And we aren't listening
There is a train that's heading straight
To heaven's gate, to heaven's gate
And on the way child and man and woman wait
Watch and wait for redemption day
To heaven's gate, to heaven's gate
And on the way child and man and woman wait
Watch and wait for redemption day
What do you have for us today?
Throw us a bone but save the plate
Oh, why we waited 'til so late
Was there no oil to excavate?
Throw us a bone but save the plate
Oh, why we waited 'til so late
Was there no oil to excavate?
No riches in trade for the fate
Of every person who died in hate
Throw us a bone, you men of great
Of every person who died in hate
Throw us a bone, you men of great
There is a train that's heading straight
To heaven's gate, to heaven's gate
And on the way child and man and woman wait
Watch and wait for redemption day
To heaven's gate, to heaven's gate
And on the way child and man and woman wait
Watch and wait for redemption day
It's buried in the countryside
Exploding in the shells at night
It's everywhere a baby cries
Freedom, freedom, freedom
Exploding in the shells at night
It's everywhere a baby cries
Freedom, freedom, freedom
